the eyes of your heart: a haiku

angel on horse2behind a cool glass

flying horse passed by in haste

tree friends waved in silence

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~When he is just riding in a car, minding his own business, things are happening in another realm right before his eyes. The trees bend and wave. The cloud moves into position. A clear sign appears in the clear blue sky, which has been unruffled until the moment. From afar he sees a speck of shape come rushing at a good speed and it becomes clearer and larger as he focuses. Here is a clear picture of the flying horse. On other pictures he sees the rider too with a sword. This appearance takes place just after he has visited a most oppressed place of history. He has prayed when others complain of heaviness and unease. Then the celestial rider comes on a horse and the oppression lifts immediately. An amazing experience. He believes in the power of prayers.
And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people),
A dictionary for navigators on spiritual rough waters 38: more words for hard times
time square hilton NYThis traveler continues this journey on spiritual rough waters with a positive word. Not smooth but it’s worth it.
F= FIRST
‘First’ is a word commonly associated with performance superiority. Where an individual considers a thing of positive value to him, he wants to be first, to gain an advantageous position, and it means acting before all others. In a competitive environment he wants to be the winning one when compared to others in the same arena. The competition may be real or imagined on the part of the person who is required to perform, often with a stated corporate goal (with his own personal agenda) within stated corporate parameters. In a modern competitive economy based on scarce and limited resources, there is no way anyone who wants a reasonable and sustainable living without being measured by parameters set for performance in a corporate society.
In summary, often we (earth dwellers) want to be first only when there is a competition for scarce resources. There is a finite limit no matter how advanced we may currently are in ‘creative’ technology and science. The resources of the earth are finite. Parameters set by human and enforced by those with authority and power can restrain mankind from harmful ‘excessive consumption’ within the known and predicted limits of time and space and power. Increasingly the ‘war’ to control resources will intensify in quantity and frequency.
Enough for the discussion of physical natural ‘doom’. How can Christians be hopeful for exemption from this inevitable natural constraint for all earth-bound mankind? For the spiritual (supernatural) Christian, the word ‘first’ could mean quite opposite in the spiritual dictionary. The focus makes a paradigm shift to a set of limitless parameters. Parameters not bound by scarcity of resources. Let us read some positive meanings of ‘first’:
First thing first: Whom we believe (limitless and preeminent -above all)
and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
[ The Last Enemy Destroyed ] But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,”
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Christian’s strategy in a physical world:
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things (physical and other things to meet all your needs) shall be added to you.
The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops.
So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.”
Matthew 20:26-28  Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.
Revelation 2:5
Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works,
“I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first.
1 John 4:19
We love Him because He first loved us.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Hebrews 12:22-24 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
Two role models who scored ‘first’ in faith in action:
[ Mary Magdalene Sees the Risen Lord ] Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.
Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed.
———————————–
Warning:
For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?
(to the church) Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
today’s thought: your true identity chooses blessing and not cursing
The Good Report: Your True Identity – Booklet
This mini magazine is a compilation of articles on the topic of your identity in Christ.There is an identity crisis in the world today. Mankind is only a shadow of what God created us to be. Most people have become so accustomed to being miserable that they don’t know what they are missing. They don’t realize from where we’ve fallen. Modern man believes he came from monkeys and acts accordingly. They practice homosexuality. Even monkeys are smarter than that. They protect the unborn eagles more than their own young. They have lost all sense of who they are and where they came from.
Here is a series of audio teachings on emotion and thought and how to harness them and be free to live the life you are destined to live!
quote: “factor which controls our actions. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as hethinketh in his heart, so is he.” Romans 8:6 says, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Notice that carnal mindedness doesn’t just tend toward death — it is death!No one can consistently perform differently than the way they think; therefore, we cannot change our actions without changing our thinking. It’s not just what we think about that needs changing, but we must change our thinking process. Our emotions are linked directly to how we think.
All people have a perception, or image, on the inside of them of what they are like. This image is not necessarily based on facts but on feelings. One negative experience can distort a person’s perception of themself for a lifetime.
For instance, some people who are beautiful may think of themselves as ugly or undesirable because of unkind words spoken to them as a child. Some who achieve great success still see themselves as failures, which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
To a degree, psychology has correctly diagnosed this problem. Psychologists use terminology such as “self-esteem” or “identity” in relating these truths; however, today’s secular wisdom is totally inadequate to help a person change the inner self image.
First, most people shift the blame for bad self-esteem, or self-image, to someone else. It has become popular to blame others for every negative thing in our lives. People often say, “I came from a dysfunctional family,” “My problems came because I’m part of a minority group,” “It’s that woman you gave me” (Gen. 3:12). Other people are not our problem!
All of us have had negative experiences. The choice is ours whether we become bitter or better as a result of them. For every person who can claim some dysfunctional behavior because of a traumatic experience in their life, there are others who have had similar or worse things happen to them, yet they overcame their circumstances. Why? Because problems do not dictate failure; we have a choice.
Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” God Almighty gave us a choice. God doesn’t make the choice for us, and Satan can’t make it for us. We have the privilege and responsibility to choose blessing or cursing.
Placing the blame on others is denying the real problem, and it will prevent finding a solution. If other people are my problem, I’m in trouble because God did not give me the ability to control other people. The devil will always send someone across my path who knows how to hit my hot button.
If the problem is within me, then there is hope because through Christ, I can change. This is freedom. Regardless of what others do, I can prosper through Christ.
After psychology tries to place the blame for your problems on someone else, they try to bolster your self-esteem by having you focus on the positive things in your self and minimize the negative attributes. That’s not what the Bible teaches. Jesus said, “For without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5).
“Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me” (Mark 8:34). Paul said, “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are” (1 Cor. 1:27-28).
The Bible teaches that there must be an end to self-esteem before true service can begin. Christians should not try and store up the feeble positive attributes of their personalities. That is like trying to stop the bleeding from an amputated arm with a Band-Aid; it won’t work for long.
Regardless of how successful or talented we are in ourselves, we will eventually fail. If nothing else, we will get older someday and will not be as productive as before. If our self-esteem is rooted in our accomplishments, then it will ultimately fail. All the security we have found in ourselves will then come crashing down around us.
The Christian should have Christ-esteem. Just like the Apostle Paul said, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Gal. 2:20).
The secret to victorious Christian living is not found in self-improvement but in self-denial so that Christ can live through us.
This does not mean that God wants us to have a bad self-image. It just depends upon which self we are talking about. You see, every born-again believer has become a new person in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). (Eph. 4:22-24).
The old man is corrupt and, at his best, is incapable of living the Christian life. This is the self that most people try to patch up and feel good about. Give it up! We have to die to this old self life with all its good and bad, and find a new identity in Christ.
The new man is exactly as Jesus is (1 Cor. 6:17)! That’s right. We are a totally brand-new person in Christ. We have everything that Jesus has, in our spirits (1 John 4:17). We have a totally new identity in Christ. Why then would we want to fix up our old selves instead of just living in our new selves?
If we let the new man dominate us, we’ll walk in power and victory in every area of our lives.
How can you tell if your thoughts and emotions are coming from the new, born-again self or the old carnal self? God’s Word is the key. Jesus says in John 6:63, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” Any thought or emotion that agrees with what God’s Word says about you is from your new man. Any thought or emotion that violates God’s Word is from your old man or the devil.
If you are angry at someone, you’re in the flesh (old man). Just repent and get back in the spirit (new man) where you have love, joy, and peace (Gal. 5:22). If you are afraid, you’re in the flesh, “for God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7). Instead of going to God and asking Him to remove the fear, just step out of the flesh and into the spirit where there is no fear (1 John 4:18).
This is so simple you have to have someone help you misunderstand it. The problem is that we have had a lot of help misunderstanding these simple, biblical truths, but we have a solution.” (Harnessing Your Emotions – Andrew Wommack)
quoted from the above :
“Sin is Emotional
This teaching reveals that positive emotions are not optional. God commands us to take control of our emotions. In fact, sin is conceived in our emotions. A person who doesn’t master their emotions is a person who cannot overcome sin.
Self-Esteem
Emotions are a result of how we think. A person who has low self-esteem is going to be depressed. But how does this square with the statements of God’s Word about denying ourselves and becoming nothing in our own sight before God can use us? The answer lies in Christ-esteem, not self-esteem. Our born-again self is the only part of us that we need to esteem. Anything less is destined to fail.
Identity in Christ
We need to analyze and then identify with the new self that we have become in Christ. This teaching will give you a look at who you are in Christ that very few Christians have seen. This is life-changing and one of the major keys to a victorious life in Christ. “harnessing your emotions
random thoughts on spiritual cost
The Cost of Discipleship (Quotes from Dietrich Bonhoeffer)
“When all is said and done, the life of faith is nothing if not an unending struggle of the spirit with every available weapon against the flesh.”
“Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock. Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner. Above all, it is costly because it cost God the life of his Son: ‘Ye were bought at a price’, and what has cost God much cannot be cheap for us. Above all, it is grace because God did not reckon his Son too dear a price to pay for our life, but delivered him up for us. Costly grace is the Incarnation of God.”
“Not hero worship, but intimacy with Christ.”
“Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate.”
“It is only because He became like us that we can become like Him.”
“Fruit is always the miraculous, the created; it is never the result of willing, but always a growth. The fruit of the Spirit is a gift of God, and only He can produce it. They who bear it …know only the power of Him on whom their life depends”
“[Jesus] stands between us and God, and for that very reason he stands between us and all other men and things. He is the Mediator, not only between God and man, but between man and man, between man and reality. Since the whole world was created through him and unto him (John 1:3; 1st Cor. 8:6; Heb. 1:2), he is the sole Mediator in the world.”
“There is no way from one person to another. However loving and sympathetic we try to be…we cannot penetrate the incognito of the other man…Christ stands between us, and we can only get into touch with our neighbors through him. That is why intercession is the most promising way to reach our neighbors, and corporate prayer, offered in the name of Christ, the purest form of fellowship.”
“The messengers of Jesus will be hated to the end of time. They will be blamed for all the division which rend cities and homes. Jesus and his disciples will be condemned on all sides…The disciples will be sorely tempted to desert their Lord. But the end is also near, and they must hold on and persevere until it comes. Only he will be blessed who remains loyal to Jesus and his word until the end.”
“To be called to a life of extraordinary quality, to live up to it, and yet to be unconscious of it is indeed a narrow way. To confess and testify to the truth as it is in Jesus, and at the same time to love the enemies of that truth, his enemies and ours, and to love them with the infinite love of Jesus Christ, is indeed a narrow way. ..it is indeed an impossible way. But if we behold Jesus Christ going on before step by step, we shall not go astray.”
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.’ These men without possessions or power, these strangers on Earth, these sinners, these followers of Jesus, have in their life with him renounced their own dignity, for they are merciful.”
“So many people come to church with a genuine desire to hear what we have to say, yet they are always going back home with the uncomfortable feeling that we are making it too difficult for them to come to Jesus.”
“[God says] Discipleship is not limited to what you can comprehend.”
“True prayer is done in secret, but this does not rule out the fellowship of prayer altogether, ..True prayer does not depend either on the individual or the whole body of the faithful, but solely upon the knowledge that our Heavenly Father knows our needs.”
“The community of the saints is not an “ideal” community consisting of perfect and sinless men and women, ..No, it is a community which proves that it is worthy of the gospel of forgiveness by constantly and sincerely proclaiming God’s forgiveness…Sanctification means driving out the world from the Church as well as separating the Church from the world. But the purpose of such discipline is not to establish a community of the perfect, but a community consisting of men who really live under the forgiving mercy of You.”
“Anything I cannot thank God for the sake of Christ, I may not thank God for at all; to do so would be sin. … We cannot rightly acknowledge the gifts of God unless we acknowledge the Mediator for whose sake alone they are given to us.”
“The earthly form of Christ is the form that died on the cross. The image of God is the image of Christ crucified. It is to this image that the life of the disciples must be conformed; in other words, they must be conformed to his death (Phil 3.10, Rom 6.4) The Christian life is a life of crucifixion (Gal 2.19) In baptism the form of Christ’s death is impressed upon his own. They are dead to the flesh and to sin, they are dead to the world, and the world is dead to them (Gal 6.14). Anybody living in the strength of Christ’s baptism lives in the strength of Christ’s death.” ― Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship Dietrich Bonhoeffer
words spoken by the wisest man
Ecclesiastes 6
There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: A man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor, so that he lacks nothing for himself of all he desires; yet God does not give him power to eat of it, but a foreigner consumes it. This is vanity, and it is an evil affliction.
If a man begets a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with goodness, or indeed he has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better than he— for it comes in vanity and departs in darkness, and its name is covered with darkness. Though it has not seen the sun or known anything, this has more rest than that man, even if he lives a thousand years twice—but has not seen goodness. Do not all go to one place?
All the labor of man is for his mouth,
And yet the soul is not satisfied.
For what more has the wise man than the fool?
What does the poor man have,
Who knows how to walk before the living?
Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of desire.
This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.
10 Whatever one is, he has been named already,
For it is known that he is man;
And he cannot contend with Him who is mightier than he.
11 Since there are many things that increase vanity,
How is man the better?
12 For who knows what is good for man in life, all the days of his vain life which he passes like a shadow? Who can tell a man what will happen after him under the sun?
sound familiar? many can identify with this poor rich man? yes, he was also the richest man in the world in history.
Heaven-And-Hell-Sign
– power of “confess”
Today we come to the powerful positive word: “confess”. Take note that this is a verb and not a noun. The word has often been associated with fear. No one wants to make public his or her deepest secret. The word “confess” intrudes. However, today we look at the positive side of this word which is in truth a key to opening the door to victory in life!
Here are some powerful and real life and death matters on positive confessions in the Bible:
Jesus ‘confesses’ good reports about believers to God in heaven, for recording purposes! (Praise God for such a system of positive record – the Book of life !)
Matthew 10:32[ Confess Christ Before Men ] “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:31-33 (in Context)
Revelation 3:5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. Revelation 3:4-6 (in Context)
Apostle Peter ‘confesses’ correctly (as led by the Holy Spirit) and is commended instantly by Jesus:
Matthew 16:15-17
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
Confessing rightly with our mouths bring us to salvation!
Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  Romans 10:8-10 (in Context)
When one confesses, God is listening. Each individual confesses to the Almighty God.
Romans 14:10-12
10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.[a] 11 For it is written:
As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”[b]
12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.
When one confesses, one is giving glory to God. The name of Jesus is exalted. it has to come from the heart and not mere lip service. God knows.
Philippians 2:10-12
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
One confesses to God for sins. Why? Because God wants to forgive you.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-10 (in Context)
I confesses who Jesus is, to me. Why? Because God wants to live in me.
1 John 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 1 John 4:14-16 (in Context)
What shall I do, after confessing Who Jesus is to me? Hold fast to my confession.
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:11-13 (in Context)
1 john 5-13
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:22-24 (in Context)
“A dictionary for navigators on spiritual rough waters” chapter 25 – the power of words
Here we are, at the cross road of life. We each know the place from which we have come. We do not know where we are going. We each must choose now. Indeed, the more we read the words of God, the more we realize how little we know God. How can we ever know our Creator? How can the clay ever know the Potter?
Potter leaves mark on the product of his hands. God our Creator leaves mark in us. We are created in His image. Even though we have fallen (since Adam) and come short of His glory, there are marks of God in some of us which are still discernible, the compassion, goodness and mercy of God. But we want to know Him more and be more like Him.
Here we are, at His manual again.
today we look at the power of God’s words.
A most power word in the Bible is: I. When the word ‘I’ is spoken by God. We read Leviticus 26 ( I encourage you to read the whole chapter yourself. You can read the Bible online if you do not have a hard copy.)
2 “I am the Lord.”
“If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you the seasonal rains.
“I will give you peace in the land, and you will be able to sleep with no cause for fear.
“I will look favorably upon you, making you fertile and multiplying your people. And I will fulfill my covenant with you. 10 You will have such a surplus of crops that you will need to clear out the old grain to make room for the new harvest! 11 I will live among you, and I will not despise you.12 I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.13 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so you would no longer be their slaves. I broke the yoke of slavery from your neck so you can walk with your heads held high.”
What an awesome God! He spoke all these on His own accord. He offered the best ever to His people. Because He is God, He means every word He speaks. They will all come to pass. His words had never failed. So the ‘I’ declared by God is really a most powerful word we have ever heard.God's power in us
what ‘return’ really means: “Come back to God!”
Further thoughts on the word ‘return’. it is all about God. God’s definition on ‘return’. Let us look deeper and allow the current of the Holy Spirit teach us to swim in this vast ocean of uncharted waters. ‘Return’ is all about “Come back to God!”
(Bible verses from 2 Corinthians 5 (in parts) in NLT version.)
Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.
So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him.
Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too.
If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view… This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
“A dictionary for navigators on spiritual rough waters” chapter 22 –word logic
It is not strictly appropriate to use the word logic to explain spiritual words  But we use it for just this one Due to keyboard malfunctioning a lot of substitute words are used here in lieu of the original better words You find out the alphabets not used The enter function and a lot of  typing keys are lost too  But it does not deter today’s determination of this spiritual work Why do I talk about word logic? Here is a present day reason I often heard parent asking for prayers and complaining their children no longer obey parents unlike the olden days They also use one Bible phrase -self control as a prayer need for their children “please pray for self -control for ____” they urged But we know that self-control is the last fruit in the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit The truth is: you need to manifest the nine fruits in sequence and in all and not just an isolated one! The Holy Spirit is one and not divided into separate parts  You do not show one last fruit suddenly without the Holy Spirit or if you are already born again by the Holy Spirit then you let the Holy Spirit work in you and override your own flesh nature before you show the nine fruits So first thing get your kids to be born again Then be baptized and be filled by the Holy Spirit and then be led by the Holy Spirit and then the fruits will appear and the last of the fruits will be your longed-for self -control! For information asking kids to obey parents will not get you anywhere Only the Holy Spirit helps your kids read and follow the Bible You and your kids need God the Holy Spirit (for past ten years you kept quarreling with your kids as they refused to obey you what make you think they will suddenly respond positively to this phrase “obey your parents” without the power of the Holy Spirit?) Start building today afresh with the Holy Spirit Jesus said your Father is pleased to give you the Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:16-26
New Living Translation (NLT)
Living by the Spirit’s Power
16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. broken society
a more lasting love: today’s love letter
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.
Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him. Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.
Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life[a] is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. 10 So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers[b] does not belong to God.
Love One Another
love each other
love each other
11 This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 12 We must not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because Cain had been doing what was evil, and his brother had been doing what was righteous. 13 So don’t be surprised, dear brothers and sisters,[c] if the world hates you.
14 If we love our Christian brothers and sisters,[d] it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead. 15 Anyone who hates another brother or sister[e] is really a murderer at heart. And you know that murderers don’t have eternal life within them.
16 We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister[f] in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?
18 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. 19 Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God. 20 Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.
21 Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. 22 And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.
23 And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. 24 Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.
Notes: All about Christian Spiritual songs
Another intercessor remarked recently that only when one has experienced pain, hurt and suffering in life, can one sing spiritual songs in such depth and beauty.
I agree. I have felt that too when I sing spiritual songs. Although I do not know what I sing my spirit can feel the pain or hurt or grief of the songs. I know whether it is a happy song, a worship song, a petition song, a marching song, an urgent song, or a slow moving gentle song.
My spirit man knows and I can feel the emotion, mood and even movement in the songs.
The songs are sometimes like fire. Sometimes they are like rain. Often they are like wind: strong wind, gentle breeze, refreshing wind, wind of sweeping and cleansing power and so on.
I like the songs like love. Such compassion and kindness from the Holy Spirit (the Comforter) telling me the Father’s love from heaven.
I also enjoy the songs like cooling waters, living and bubbly.
From the languages and musical tunes of the songs I know whether I am singing a western song or an eastern song. Sometimes they sound like Japanese or Chinese. Sometimes Indian or some tribal languages from Africa or south America.
Often they are like Portuguese or Spanish. A very common one sounds like Indonesian.
O yes, I do sing like the children of Israel. One day I was interested about what I was singing as it sounded like middle-eastern language. So I did a search and found that the way of singing and music between Israel and other middle-eastern people are actually quite close!
My regular songs sound like Irish songs. I did not know until one day I recorded some and a child visitor asked me why I was singing Irish songs!
When do they come? I have no fixed time or pattern. They come at any time my spirit is aligned with the Lord Jesus. We all have the Spirit of Christ. Otherwise we do not belong to Him. When my spirit is joined to the Lord’s Spirit, the songs come. Then I sing them naturally and effortlessly.
Sometimes I am led to exercise on the indoor bike as I sing.
When I drive a car and travel far I sing too. The songs just flow as I pray that the Lord brings me and my journey into a spiritual highway, apart from the physical traffic. It is a privilege for all sons of God, being led by the Spirit of God.
Sometimes I sing as I type, like I am doing now. What does the now song sound like? I ask myself.
What was I thinking just now before I started typing this blog? I was actually sort of lamenting over a separation from the past, from what I still love and treasure. Then I started typing this little article to talk about my songs. So the now song is a comforting song.
The song talks about feelings and a sense of loss and grief. Yet it rises and lifts up. My spirit does not end at a sad note. Even when tears were stuck at my throat for a fleeting moment the power of the Comforter reaches my soul and lifts me up.
When one sings in the spirit one is baring one’s soul to the Father in heaven. Not that He needs our baring our souls in order to see into our hearts, it’s just that as we know we are baring our souls to Him, we are assured of His closeness (as in James 4:8, “Come close to God and God will come close to you”). Singing spirit songs is like a therapy for our souls. Our spirit rejoices when we receive the same closeness as our spirit receives when joined to the Lord and be one spirit with Him. ( 1Corinthians 6:17)
Rejoice! I say again, give thanks, rejoice, o watchman!
Ephesians 5:18-20
“…Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
(revised Prophecy- March 2013) End Times SIGNS: Spiritual Remnants
March 2013 notes: This post has turned out prophetic. Indeed the world today is now deeply and clearly divided into three groups: the social-economic-political-religious power group, the elite liberal hidden in the above power group (holding key posts of influence), and the remnant (tiny and loose groupings scattered globally) hidden and preserved by God according to His eternal plan at the right time in the right places.
_________________________Original post in 2010:
The watchman knew this day would come. He was reminded twice within two consecutive nights. “You just have to deny yourself. Yourself is blocking your advance in your quest for eternal life.”
He has been reading up on the frightening but seemingly inevitable impact of a very disciplined and fast growing wild fire kind of belief. The world seems to have gone one full circle.
Liberalism has given a false security to many in history that the golden days on earth will be when everyone can be free to do what he wants and thinks for himself what is best for him. Every one can choose what lifestyle he wants and what definition he means by living a good life. After all, are not more and more men are being educated and civilized? Is not the world being more and sophisticated in science and technology?
Alas, this ‘ideal’ is not to be. Just look around and one cannot deny the fact that many more in this world are being deceived, pulverized, oppressed, suppressed, terrorized, coerced, bullied, enslaved, even dehumanized. Many have not been able to rise above the mire they are subjected to for generations and the slime and grime have no end. The advance in external material realm have not brought advancement in the higher quality of human hearts, such as, kindness, generosity, neighborly love, charity, mutual respect and honor, sharing attitude, gentleness and tender mercy.
Unlike the liberal elite who might survive as one man anywhere on earth (until now) perhaps, the majority of masses have opted to adhere to some form of totalitarian rule and order as a survival strategy. As one individual, they cannot access any power base. As a mass of people adhering to one faith, one ruler, they can. Indeed. they become formidable power group.
Do not be surprised, to many, it is preferable to live on basic physiological needs than to die for conceptual ideals such as individual human rights or liberty. Many do not have the word, ‘concept’ in their mental dictionary.
Can liberals live on individually without the use of other groups for long in this world? Not very long. The days for the individuals seem numbered. Liberals by nature and lifestyle are not cohesive enough and cannot form any sustainable power group to rule effectively. Reproduction is one big weakness. Liberals are not able to reproduce and multiply their followers (even by birth) as fast as others can.
*However, totalitarians need only a few liberal elites manipulating a large group of masses who follow them blindly or under coercion. How can the elites not be detected? Easy, just hide in the powerful, long established and well organized systems of various religious beliefs (mainly the only two mega ones in the current world). *
NB: * This above revelation was received by the watchman just now (22nd September 2010) This ties in with what Jesus and the Apostles have warned the Christians. Daniel 9:26-27 and 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 specified their characteristics. 1 John 4:3 declared that the spirit of the Antichrist indeed is already here.
Fundamental Christians have woken to the truth that unless they turn back to the old path of a theocratic society they too will perish as a physical entity. In the beginning when God first formed a power group He decreed that they lived a God-centric life style. Being God-centric means submitting all values and aspects of living to your God (and His Word). Otherwise, you will will just like the liberals. Soon you will become no more as a power group. You will be assimilated into the one dominant totalitarian belief power system which will govern all aspects of your life anyway. Unless you are part of the elitist Antichrist system you will be just an oppressed and powerless pawn within that system.
For Christians who opt out of the above mentioned totalitarian system, they will become a small remnant as few will be willing to follow this very narrow gate and difficult path, living by faith and by the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus has predicted. Remnants will not become a big power group in this world. They are pocket size. they do not have a permanent base. There may come a time they do not have a place a rest their heads. Remnants will not be threats to any mega power groups. They will not be noticed. They are more like the third class passengers on an ocean liner, being clustered in some lowly and humble corners out of sight and out of mind of the system of the world.
Many remnants will be outside the ‘camp’ of the world’s system. They will not have access to the world’s social and economic system. On the other hand, they will live supernaturally. They follow exactly the Word of God and live the supernatural life style as demonstrated by Jesus and His disciples, and as witnessed by many before them (all the men and women of faith as recorded in the Bible). Can others join such a free life if they do not want to be in the world totalitarian system? Yes, you may, only if you deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Jesus Christ.
Ponder on the verses for today as below: Luke 9
Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ
18 And it happened, as He (Yeshua Christ) was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them,
20 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.”
Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection
21 And He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.”
Take Up the Cross and Follow Him
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.
Jesus Transfigured on the Mount
27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.”
28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.
34 … a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!
